JP052 Friday the 13th. Pleine-Plakishkan, East Prussia, October 13, 1944.

History: In July of 1944, the Herman Goring Assault Gun Battalion began receiving shipments
of JagdPanzer IV tank-dstroyers. The intent was to utilize these tank-destroyers in company
strength as the backbone of the new Panzerjager units. In October, the 1st Company,
Hermann Goring Fallschirmpanzercorps Panzerjager Battalion received 16 new
JagdPanzer IV vehicles. Their mission was to act as a mobile fire brigade for the panzerkorps.

Aftermath: On Friday, 13 October, elements of the 1st Panzerjager Company attacked in support
of elements of the Hermann Goring Panzergrenadier Regiment 3. Their objective was to thwart
the Soviet advance from 42nd Rifle Division on Army Group North. One JagdPanzer IV was knocked
out by a hidden 57mm ATG at a range of approximately 200 meters, but the remainder swarmed
the crossroads. From mutually supported fire positions they succeeded in halting the Soviet advance.
